Men en explosion är också en snabb process som frigör energi. Något att tänka på innan man drar förhastade slutsatser. Och om man ska tro evolutionen behövde rymden en big bang för att universums bästa planet skulle bli till.

Un mur de sons, des airs planants, le tout évidemment bien orchestré. Le contraire serait un résultat cacaphonique. Dans le cas de cet album, le tout est très bien balancé, chaque instrument trouve la place qui lui revient.

Ever since the Jake Mann fiasco that I got myself into, I try to be pretty quick to write about bands that I’ve actually been in contact with. This does not usually end up happening, however! Indeed, I told the singer for Plajia, a Canadian indie band, that I’d have something written within a week… and that was 12 days ago! Clearly, my laziness is just as prolific as ever.

Some saturdays require a lil drifting into the space between at times. Plajia being expressed as a beautiful explosion is an understatement. These canadians (again!) produce an extremely different and fresh sound which will inch its way closer to your heart with each listen.

Montreal’s Plajia (pronounced, according to their email, plah-gee-ah) released their debut album, Beautiful Explosion, in October of this year. To be honest, I don’t know all that much about them - neither their website nor the email they sent to us gives much of a biography.

My approval rating for “out of genre” music has sky rocketed this month. “Out of genre” means that the music is out of my usual comfort zone. First Feist came out of no where and now Plajia; both of which are from Canada. I gotta say that Plajia is just one of those bands that grows on you I guess, at first I was like “eh”, but now I’m like “ooooh, alright, nice.” I’m not even really sure how to explain their style, “Canadian Rock” is the best I can do.

Since I have been writing this blog, about a year now if you can believe that, I have gotten a slow but steady stream of music sent to me by bands and PR folks representing bands that are trying to make their big break. Most of this music hasn't been to my taste, but I recently got an email from Patrick Pleau, the lead singer of Plajia, a band from Montreal, with links to some pretty cool tunes.

As I listen, a small smile stretches across my face, because I hear a twinge of the 90s, which I have been saying is about to explode back onto the scene for about two years now. I love it when I'm right. But, I also have boobs, making that a blatant fact.

Plajia surprend avec «Beautiful Explosion»
Après plusieurs sursauts créatifs depuis sa formation en 2001, Plajia vient de lancer «Beautiful Explosion», son premier véritable album, une œuvre musicale fort intéressante qui mérite une oreille attentive. Le trio, originaire de Châteauguay, qui a cumulé démos, mini-albums et de multiples concerts depuis six ans n'attendait que le bon moment pour exploser sur la scène musicale. Et cette opportunité est enfin arrivée.

In what was the inaugural (oft neglected) Free Music Friday post I featured a Montreal band called Plajia. Since I had mentioned the band previously on my blog, Patrick, the lead singer from the band was gracious enough to send me a copy of the bands new album Beautiful Explosion, which was recently released October 30th.

Les groupes de musique peuvent-ils progresser lorsque leur son ne cadre pas avec ces catalyseurs de carrières que sont les radios commerciales? Vivre des fruits de son art n’est pas un privilège offert à la majorité des artistes. Cela ne les empêche pas pour autant de vivre pour leur art.

Just before you run for the hills at the start of ‘I Am A Musician’ for fear of an assault of the Bon Jovi’s be warned that staying out of ear shot would be a loss to the side of your brain that craves free form rock gems. Because that's the sort of blaze of glory (!) that this song from Montreal’s Plajia is.
