Montreal, Canada
The SITIS collection is primarily an ensemble of tracks taken from all three previous PLAJIA releases but it is, in truth, an audio biography of PLAJIA's progression as a "band". PLAJIA started out in the late 90s as Patrick Pleau's acoustic, intimate, eerie, moody and very experimental solo project. His vocals are timid but poignant, high pitches to match the music's charm.

The original idea is still present in some SITIS tracks such as « Artificial Born Killer » and « Trance », both of which are lengthy melody-based songs (soundtrack music, as some would say). In 2001, Patrick teamed up with fellow musicians Bryan Ortiz (soul bassist), Denis Charbonneau (the versatile guitarist) & Jean-Francois Lefoll (ex-Typoid super-bassist, now on drums like à la powerhouse) and it was then that PLAJIA became a "band", it was no longer an intimate project. The transition from "project" to "band" takes time. Surprisingly good songs came out from this period, it was an early peek at the combined band's talents rather than the band's ability to adapt to Patrick's vision. « Deception Station » (2003) is one those songs, it has nothing to do with the original PLAJIA theme and all to do with a new direction; an ambush of sounds with a confident backbone whereas the original theme was rather shy and mysterious. What remained intact were the melodies; PLAJIA's ever so important melodies. « Should I », « Cimetière Lunaire » & « Dummy » are also great examples of the band's progression; the formulas are pop-ish but the songs take on anthem-esque proportions -- simply put "songs that'll stick in the back of your head for a long time". With a glimpse of PLAJIA's latest studio endeavor; their new track « Me, My love & a chord of C » -- proof that the band has the necessary bond to look ahead and create PLAJIA's own "sound" rather than adapting to an earlier ideal. The SITIS collection is an excellent voyage into the world of PLAJIA past, present and future. A vibrant musical journey from very dark corners to blatantly naive and soothing tracks like « Sleeping » & « I seek you ». Keep a close eye on this Montreal act, the best has yet to come.
